CARE, CLEANING & USE

FOR WOOD & IRON

Robert James Collection pieces are hand-finished with a topcoat to protect the finish. As with all furniture, spills and moisture should be cleaned up quickly. Clean with a soft damp cloth. If further cleaning is needed, use a non-abrasive soap or a non-solvent-based cleaner like “Simple Green” available at most supermarkets and hardware stores. Do not use water-soaked rags to clean. Do not leave moist objects on the surface. Do not place hot items directly on the surface. Excessive exposure to water / moisture and heat will damage the surface. Coasters should be used. We do not recommend wax-based spray polishes and cleaners. Our topcoat has a matte sheen that gives our finish an organic look. Excessive rubbing of the finish will “polish” the area being rubbed and not match the surrounding area. If a nick or slight damage should occur, call the factory and we can send out a touch up kit.

FOR CAST STONE

Our cast stone is suitable for exterior or interior use. We use a high quality non yellowing sealer. Exterior applications of tabletops should require covering when not in use to avoid staining from landscape debris. Leaves, flowers, and similar landscape can leave stains when left especially when wet or damp.

Cast stone when used in interior or exterior environments should be cared for in a comparable way to a wood top. Spills and moisture should be wiped up quickly to avoid staining. Clean with a soft damp cloth. Do not leave moist objects on the surface for periods of time as it may stain. Do not place hot items directly on the surface. Excessive exposure to heat will damage the surface. Due to the nature of Cast Stone, acidic liquids like lemon, limes, red wine etc. can stain the surface. Coasters should be used. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND QUARRY FOR DINING TABLES OR COCKTAIL TABLETOPS AS THIS FINISH IS MORE POROUS AND SUSCEPTABLE TO STAINING.
